The Family Portrait.
Four members of the household. One very fine room. An excellent carpet. Several rather serious curtains.
This nineteenth-century American family portrait records the Aymar household in their richly furnished New York home, complete with books, furniture, fruit, textiles and a glimpse of ships beyond the window.
A family portrait should say something about the family. This one certainly does.
