The Naval Captain
Choose a historical portrait. Send us your photograph. We'll create your place in history.
A full-length portrait for the gentleman who looks as though he has recently commanded a seventy-gun ship and has no intention of discussing it.
Present yourself. Choose your size and finish, then send us a clear photograph. We shall arrange the likeness and place you, quite convincingly, within the original portrait.

The story
John Gell was a British naval officer who had commanded the seventy-gun Monarca in battles against the French. Gilbert Stuart looked to Sir Joshua Reynolds for the heroic language of grand portraiture, combining naturalism with an imposing sense of duty and command.
