For the woman who has always understood the value of an excellent dress, a proper title and being painted by Nattier.
Present yourself. Choose your size and finish, then send us a clear photograph. We shall arrange the likeness and place you, quite convincingly, within the original portrait.
The original
Marie Françoise de La Cropte de St. Abre, Marquise d’Argence, Jean Marc Nattier, 1744, Metropolitan Museum of Art, object 58.102.1.
The story
The sitter’s name and the date are recorded on the stretcher. Nattier presents her frontally in a lace-and-pearl-trimmed bodice with an extravagant length of fabric knotted across her breast. It is a small portrait with a very large sense of occasion.
Fine Art Paper: museum-quality fine-art reproduction. Matte Cotton Canvas: a softly textured canvas finish for a more traditional painted appearance.
